Women’s Judo Night in Almonte

Following on the success of last year’s event, we are excited to announce a free training session again this year, Wednesday October 19, 2011 from 8:00 PM – 9:30PM. The intent is to gather as many women (say 13 yrs +) together for the mutual benefit of experiencing a variety of training partners. Last year we were fortunate to gather interest from at least 6 or 7 Clubs, and we hope to attract as many Clubs and individuals this year, if not more. We also had all belt levels represented, white through black, and it would be great to see this again. There is amazing judo talent in this area and everyone can benefit significantly from sessions such as this one.

Almonte is known as ‘The Friendly Town’ – and WE ARE !!! If that is not enough to draw you here, you will be guaranteed a good workout (on regulation tatami), an A-1 facility, lots of partners, camaraderie, and tons of fun. There will be a blend of pair activities, stand-up, ground work …. whatever can fit into 90 minutes. We are only 20 minutes west of Kanata, the facility is easy to find, and we have ample free paved parking in a safe and well lit area adjacent to the facility. If that parking area approaches capacity we may also use the adjacent Church parking lot. And did I mention we have a Timmies!

Our address in Almonte is 182 Bridge Street. The dojo is located in the Upstairs Hall of the Almonte Arena and Curling Club.

We would appreciate if DojoShus could post this in their dojo, pass on to their own email distribution list, and promote, promote, promote! To those who attended last year, please share the good word with your colleagues in judo.

This will be the first notice of several, but let’s reserve this date now and begin the process of recruiting. This is also an Ontario Winter Games year and the East Region will need female participants (and male) – here’s a good chance to rally our judoka to participate and ensure the continued inclusion of judo in the Winter Games.
