Black Books

Judo ‘Black Books’ are returning this year for all members. A ‘black book’ is your proof of registration with Judo Ontario and it is used for a number of purposes such as identification at tournaments/clinics, collecting judo autographs, recording participation at various judo events, and identifying your progress through the belt ranks. The black book was in effect until approx. 2005/06 and then a new system of card ID’s were introduced. The cards never proved to be an effective tool, thus the return to the ‘black book’. Those who have black books from years past can hold on to them, but they will be replaced with a new book.We should be receiving our books in the next week or two (I will distribute at class) and these must be held in a safe place.

A reminder that your Judo ‘Black Book’ is very important and must be kept in a secure, easy to remember location. The books cost money to replace and some of the signatures you accumulate can never be replaced.
Â
For those in possession of the original ‘Black Book’, you can certainly keep it as well. However, only the new Black Book will be maintained/accepted from this date forward.
Â
Please complete ‘Member Information’ on Page 1 of the booklet. (Your Sensei is ‘Gord MacDonald’) Do not insert anything in ‘Judo CANADA #’ on the inside of the cover page. You will notice a ‘Registration Validation’ for the current year on page 6. (if the pages were numbered) In future years I expect we will receive a stamp from Judo Ontario once our fees are submitted. If you have progressed beyond white belt, you will find record of your belt promotions on page 7 of the booklet.
Â
Sensei will recall booklets from everyone in early April 2010. This is for the purpose of noting any belt progressions for the judo year ending April 28, 2010. In the meantime, hold onto your book and bring to any tournament, clinic, or special judo function. The book serves as your official identification at judo tournaments. If you attend a judo clinic or special judo function you may seek a signature in your book as proof of your participation.
Â
Tonight is class #12 of 14 this term. That means our fun class/Xmas party is just two weeks from tonight!!! (December 9)
