Judo, and the Olympics

Judo tournaments are one of the longest running sport events in the world, predating Modern Olympic Games by 12 years! Judo was invented in 1882 and the first organized tournaments were held in 1884.  Judo was introduced to Summer Olympic competition in 1964 (Tokyo) for male competitors, and not until 1992 (Barcelona) for female competitors.
